Mississippi College Baseball Secures Series Win at Delta State

Mississippi College baseball defeated Delta State 7-4 Sunday at Ferriss Field, securing their first series win on the road against the Gulf South Conference rival. The Choctaws improved to 28-22 overall and 21-12 in conference play, according to team officials.

The game turned in the eighth inning when Mississippi College scored four runs. Key hits included a three-run triple by JT Thigpen, which scored Robertson, Tyler Sanderson, and Jake LaRocca. Alex Johnson added an RBI single, extending the lead late in the game, officials said.

Creek Robertson led the offense with a career-high multi-home run game. The Oxford, Mississippi, native had four hits, drove in two runs, and scored three times. His two solo home runs helped the team build early momentum. Thigpen finished with two hits, including a double and the triple, along with three RBIs. LaRocca added two hits and a run scored, according to the team.

On the mound, Caleb Peterson earned the win in his start, working 6.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits, and striking out five batters. Kamryn Carlisle closed the game with 2.2 innings, earning his first save of the season, team officials said, adding he struck out three.

Delta State staged a late rally in the ninth, scoring two runs on a sacrifice fly by Henley Parker and an RBI single by pinch hitter Bo Rock. However, the Choctaw defense held firm to secure the victory, officials reported. Mississippi College now looks ahead to the Gulf South Conference Tournament in Oxford, Alabama.
