Jackson, Miss. — Millsaps College football players Grant Bizjack, Zabian Boutan and Erik Contreras have been named to the 2026 Conerly Trophy preseason watch list, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum announced Monday.
The 31st annual Conerly Trophy presentation is scheduled for Dec. 1, 2026, at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum in Jackson.
Bizjack, a sophomore quarterback, earned the 2025 Southern Athletic Association Rookie of the Year award and second-team all-conference honors. He threw for 2,784 yards and 21 touchdowns last season, completing 161 of 247 passes. A native of Trophy Club, Texas, Bizjack helped lead the Majors to a 6-4 record as a first-year starter and was a 2025 Conerly Trophy nominee.
Boutan, a graduate student and defensive lineman, was named to the 2025 All-SAA Defensive Team. He finished second on the team with 54 tackles and tied for second with 29 solo tackles in all 10 games last season. Boutan was recently honored with the number 11 jersey, a tribute to Juan Joseph.
Contreras, a senior offensive lineman, earned honorable mention all-conference honors in 2025. He contributed to the team’s success in both rushing and passing, starting all 10 games. The Majors ranked third in the conference with 1,867 rushing yards and fourth with 2,460 passing yards, with Contreras playing a key role in pass protection.
Andrea Patterson, executive director of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum, said the watch list highlights emerging contenders for the Conerly Trophy each season. “This gives us an exciting group of players to follow as the season begins, and we look forward to watching these players compete, lead their teams, and make their case to be recognized as Mississippi’s most outstanding college football player,” she said.
The watch list also includes players from Alcorn State, Belhaven, Delta State, Jackson State, Mississippi State, Mississippi Valley State, Southern Miss, and Ole Miss. For updates on Millsaps College football, fans are encouraged to follow the team on X, Instagram, Facebook, and at gomajors.com.
