Ole Miss Men’s Golf Prepares for 2026 NCAA Championship in California
The University of Mississippi men’s golf team, ranked No. 9 nationally, is gearing up for the 2026 NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, California. The tournament begins Friday, May 29, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
The NCAA Championship features 30 team qualifiers and six individuals from non-qualifying teams. The event includes 54 holes of stroke play over three days. The top 15 teams and nine individuals will advance to an additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams and individuals. The individual national champion will be crowned after the fourth day. The top eight teams will then compete in match play to decide the national champion on June 3.
Ole Miss qualified for the championship after finishing third at the Winston-Salem NCAA Regional. Cameron Tankersley and Tom Fischer finished in the top five at the regional, with Collins Trolio finishing 14th. The Rebels posted a team score of 821, 31 under par, the seventh-best in school history.
Among the field of 30 teams, Ole Miss will face programs including Vanderbilt, Louisville, Auburn, Georgia, Texas, and Florida State. The Rebels have enjoyed a successful season, including winning the SEC Championship and earning multiple top-five finishes. Head coach Chris Malloy was named SEC Coach of the Year.
Ole Miss’s lineup features Tom Fischer, Cameron Tankersley, Cohen Trolio, Collins Trolio, and Finn Meister. Fischer leads the team with a scoring average of 69.64 and has tallied 24 rounds under par. Tankersley and Trolio have also posted strong seasons, with Tankersley finishing second at the Winston-Salem Regional. The team aims to continue its postseason success, building on recent victories and strong performances throughout the season.
