Ole Miss Women’s Golf Ranked No. 19 Heads to NCAA Simpsonville Regional

The University of Mississippi women’s golf team, ranked No. 19 nationally, will compete in the NCAA Simpsonville Regional from May 11-13 at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Kentucky. This marks the Rebels’ eighth consecutive postseason appearance.

The top five teams after 54 holes, along with the top individual not on an advancing team, will qualify for the NCAA Championships at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, from May 22-27. The championship will feature 30 teams and six individuals from non-qualifying teams, according to NCAA officials.

The Rebels’ lineup features Kajsalotta Svarvar, a sophomore with a 71.58 scoring average and a career-low 54-hole score of 203 (-10). Svarvar leads the team with 16 rounds at or below par and eight rounds in the 60s. Also competing is sophomore Mary Miller, a second-team All-SEC selection, who has a 71.77 scoring average and 13 rounds under par. Miller set a career-low 54-hole score of 204 (-6) at the SEC Championship and finished runner-up in stroke play at the event.

The team has a season record that includes six top-five finishes and two team titles, including back-to-back wins at the Cougar Classic. The Rebels are returning 70% of their roster, which includes one senior, one junior, and three sophomores. Freshman Matilda Björkman, from Sweden, made an immediate impact with a third-place finish at her debut tournament and leads the team with three eagles this season.

Ole Miss will face a field that includes Arkansas, Auburn, Iowa State, Houston, Virginia Tech, and others. The regional is part of the team’s broader postseason goal to advance to the NCAA Championships, with the Rebels looking to build on their successful season and strong postseason resume.
