Mississippi Valley State Names Arlo Henderson Head Women’s Flag Football Coach
Mississippi Valley State University has announced Arlo Henderson as the head coach of its first women’s flag football team, set to launch this season. The appointment marks a new chapter for the Delta Devils athletic program.
Henderson brings diverse experience in football coaching and player development. He previously worked with Elite Football Academy and St. Louis Rams Flag, focusing on youth flag football for three years. Henderson also served as an NFL HSPD Flag Camp coach and spent four years with Under Armour Under the Lights Flag Football. In 2023, he participated in the UA Girls Camp in Orlando and the NCMFC Coaches Clinic.
He has also coached women’s tackle football in the Women’s Football Alliance and earned Coach of the Year honors. Henderson has worked under Coach Kenny Still, who is now part of the Chinese Olympic Team coaching staff. He was recently selected for the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship, highlighting his ongoing professional development.
“Coach Henderson brings valuable experience, leadership and a clear understanding of what it means to represent Mississippi Valley State University,” said athletic director Dr. Alecia Shields-Gadson. “As we launch women’s flag football, we wanted someone who could help build the foundation of this program the right way. His passion for developing student-athletes and his commitment to our department make him the right leader for this historic first season.”
The new women’s flag football team will open a fresh chapter for the university’s athletic department, providing expanded opportunities for female student-athletes. Details about the team’s schedule, roster, and season will be announced later.
