Mississippi State Finishes Day One in Second at Mossy Oak Collegiate
WEST POINT, Miss. — Mississippi State opened its home tournament strong, sitting in second place after the first day of the Mossy Oak Collegiate Championship, according to the tournament organizers.
The Bulldogs posted a total score of 8-under 568. They shot a 2-over 290 in the first round and then recorded the best second-round score in the field — a 10-under 278.
Senior Dain Richie leads Mississippi State, finishing the day tied for third overall at 139 (-5). Richie shot an even-par 72 in the first round before firing a 5-under 67 in the second, making five birdies and turning at 4-under during round two.
Ugo Malcor is tied for sixth at 141 (-3). The sophomore opened with an even-par 72 and improved to a 3-under 69 in round two, including an eagle and four birdies.
Garrett Endicott played steady golf, totaling 143 (-1) and sitting tied for 13th after rounds of 72 and 71. West Point native Jackson Cook shot his best career round, a 1-under 71, to sit at 146 (+2). Fellow freshman Jackson Skinner is tied for 42nd at 147 (+3).
Playing as an individual, Drew Wilson carded a 71 in round two to improve 19 spots, finishing with a total of 145 (+1). Freshman Bryson Hughes shot a 71 in round one and a 79 in round two, totaling 152 (+8).
The Bulldogs will begin the third round at 9:40 a.m. CT off hole No. 1. Live results are available on SCOREBOARD.
Ole Miss leads the tournament after Day One with a combined score of 559 (-17), followed by Mississippi State at 568 (-8) and Vanderbilt at 571 (-5).
