Mississippi State Wins Mossy Oak Collegiate Title in Final Round Rally
WEST POINT, Miss. — Mississippi State won the Mossy Oak Collegiate Championship, rallying from nine shots behind to tie Ole Miss for the title, according to the university. This marks State’s second team victory of the 2025-26 season and the program’s first win at this event since 2014.
Senior Dain Richie secured his first collegiate victory, tying for first place at 8-under par overall. Richie shot a second-round 67 and finished with a steady 69 in the final round, sealing the win. He is the first State individual champion since Hunter Logan won the Visit Knoxville Collegiate in 2023, the school said.
Head coach Dusty Smith praised his team’s resilience. “We knew we had to come out fighting to even have a chance. Our goal was to finish top three or better, and we achieved that,” he said. “The guys responded well under pressure and played big when it mattered most.”
Richie began his final round with a bogey but responded with consecutive birdies and made the turn at 1-under. He kept his composure with clutch up-and-downs, nearly chipped in for eagle on No. 17, and finished with a birdie to tie for first place. Garrett Endicott shot a 68 in the final round, his best of the day, and finished in the top five for the second time this season.
Ugo Malcor also played well, finishing tied for 11th at 3-under par. Jackson Skinner, a West Point native, shot a bogey-free 70 on the final day, moving up 19 spots to tie for 23rd. Jackson Cook also competed in his first Mossy Oak Collegiate, ending in 45th place.
The Bulldogs will compete in the SEC Tournament April 22-24 in St. Simons Island, Georgia. Smith expressed pride in his team’s effort, saying, “Hail State.”
Final team scores saw Mississippi State and Ole Miss tied at 847, 17-under par, with Vanderbilt finishing third at 854. Richie’s individual score was 208, 8-under par. Endicott finished with a 211, and Malcor ended at 213.
