Mississippi Christian’s Buchanan, Stockett Earn ITA All-America Honors

CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi Christian University’s women’s tennis team celebrated a historic season Tuesday as Emily Buchanan and Ann Cabot Stockett earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America honors for the 2025-26 season.

Buchanan was named an ITA Singles All-American after finishing among the top 20 in the final ITA Division II National Singles Rankings. She also earned ITA Doubles All-America honors alongside Stockett, after the duo finished among the top 10 teams in the final national doubles rankings.

The honors capped a season marked by significant achievements for the student-athletes and the program. Buchanan helped lead the Choctaws to a 27-2 record, their first Gulf South Conference championship, and their first appearance in the NCAA Division II National Semifinals.

Earlier this week, Buchanan received ITA All-America recognition in both singles and doubles. Stockett’s doubles honor followed her breakout season, in which she partnered with Buchanan to secure key victories throughout the postseason and clinch the doubles point in several major matches.

The team’s postseason run was historic. The Choctaws advanced through the NCAA South Regional, defeated defending national champion Barry University in the quarterfinals, and beat Columbus State to reach the national semifinals in Surprise, Arizona. Their season ended with a narrow 4-3 loss to Catawba in the semifinals, finishing one point shy of the national championship match.

Mississippi Christian finished with a 27-2 overall record, going undefeated (8-0) in Gulf South Conference play and 10-0 on the road. Under head coach Michael Ward and assistants Stan and Colleen Roberts, the team established itself as a national contender and finished the year ranked among the top programs in the country.

Buchanan was one of 20 players nationwide to earn ITA Singles All-America honors. Buchanan and Stockett were among only 10 doubles teams in Division II women’s tennis to be named All-Americans.
