Jarveon Howard Finishes UFL Season as League’s Top Rusher

ST. LOUIS — Jarveon Howard, a former Alcorn State and Syracuse running back, finished the 2026 United Football League (UFL) season as the league’s leading rusher, according to league officials. Howard, who signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks in December 2024, totaled 458 rushing yards during the regular season, which concluded Sunday, May 31.

The Mississippi native led the league in rushing yards and averaged 45.8 yards per game, the best in the UFL. He also posted a league-high 4.2 yards per carry, finishing nine yards ahead of Deon Jackson of the D.C. Defenders, who totaled 449 yards, league officials said.

Howard joined the Battlehawks in 2025 after spending time with the Green Bay Packers during training camp that summer. In his first year with the team, he accumulated 310 yards on the ground and scored three touchdowns. His standout performances in 2026 included a 55-yard run in a victory over the Houston Gamblers and a 59-yard run in a win against the Orlando Storm.

At Alcorn State, Howard played two seasons (2022-23), rushing for 2,048 yards and 19 touchdowns. He transferred to Alcorn after two years at Syracuse. During his college career, he earned several accolades, including a 2023 Southwestern Athletic Conference First Team selection, 2022 BOXTOROW Newcomer of the Year, and spots on the Phil Steele All-SWAC and All-SWAC First Teams.
