Mississippi Christian Tennis Teams Earn ITA Academic Honors, 11 Student-Athletes Named Scholar-Athletes

Clinton, Miss. — Mississippi Christian University’s men’s and women’s tennis programs have been recognized for their academic achievements by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Both teams earned 2026 ITA All-Academic Team honors, while 11 student-athletes received ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition for maintaining high academic standards during the 2025-26 academic year.

Six members of the men’s team were named ITA Scholar-Athletes: Matias Ruiz Broto, Mikayel Avanesyan, Charles Lefort, Mattia Ricci, John Noland, and Lucas Cavalcanti de Carvalho. On the women’s side, five players earned the honor: Wambui Taylor, Emily Buchanan, Anna Hudson, Ann Cabot Stockett, Run Van Wyk, and Katharina Weber, according to the ITA.

To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete, students must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and be listed on their school’s eligibility form. The All-Academic Team distinction requires teams to have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2, including all varsity letter winners and ensuring student-athletes are listed on the institutional eligibility form.

Across Division II, the ITA recognized 548 men’s student-athletes and 649 women’s student-athletes as Scholar-Athletes. Additionally, 70 men’s programs and 95 women’s programs earned All-Academic Team honors. Mississippi Christian’s recognition highlights the school’s commitment to academic and athletic excellence, according to the ITA.
