Jackson, Miss. – Agnes Gee has resigned as the head coach of Millsaps College’s men’s and women’s tennis teams after five seasons, prompting the college to begin a national search for her replacement, according to an announcement Monday.
Justin LeBlanc, Millsaps College’s director of athletics, expressed gratitude for Gee’s dedication. “Her contributions to both teams will be greatly missed,” he said.
During her tenure, the teams earned multiple honors, including eight Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tennis Athletes of the Week and nine SAA Doubles Team of the Week awards. Academically, Millsaps athletes excelled under Gee’s leadership, with 51 students named to the SAA Spring Academic Honor Roll and 43 ITA Scholar-Athletes. Eleven student-athletes made Club 40, and 17 semesters featured a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Gee, a University of Mississippi graduate and four-time All-American, played professionally from 1988 to 1995. She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science in 2000 and a law degree from Ole Miss in 2001. Her coaching career includes roles as an assistant at River Hills Club in Jackson, head tennis professional at Cypress Lake’s Racquet Club, and at Ridgeland Tennis Center.
