Belhaven Athletes Compete at NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships
LA CROSSE, Wis. — Belhaven University athletes Neal Terry and Kimona Haynes opened competition Thursday at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Terry finished 11th in the men’s long jump with a mark of 7.17 meters. He opened with his best jump of the day before adding a 6.96-meter effort later in the finals. His mark was just shy of his season-best 7.31 meters, set earlier this spring at the Rhodes 7-Way Meet, which broke his own CCS record.
The event was won by Joshua Rivers of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, who leapt 7.86 meters to set a new NCAA Division III record. Terry’s outdoor season included CCS titles in both the long jump and triple jump, along with CCS Field Athlete of the Meet honors for the third straight year. He also set the CCS triple jump record with a mark of 15.11 meters at the conference championships. Terry will compete in the men’s triple jump finals Saturday at 11 a.m.
On the women’s side, Haynes finished 21st in the 200 meters with a time of 25.00 seconds. She qualified for nationals with personal-best times of 24.26 seconds in the 200 and 54.80 seconds in the 400, both of which ranked among the top in Division III this season. Haynes earned her second consecutive CCS Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Year award and owns the conference records for career First Team All-Conference selections with nine and total all-conference honors with 15. She will run in the 400-meter preliminaries Friday at 4:50 p.m., aiming for a spot in Saturday’s final.
