Southern Miss Men’s Golf Finishes Day Two in Fourth at Sun Belt Championship

MADISON, Miss. — Southern Miss men’s golf shot a 4-under 284 in the second round of the Sun Belt Championship on Tuesday at Annandale Golf Club. The Golden Eagles are in fourth place after two rounds of the three-round event.

Jake Moffitt improved 17 spots with a 3-under 69, finishing the day tied for seventh. The freshman from Ripley, Mississippi, recorded 13 pars and four birdies, putting him in a tie for third with nine total birdies through two rounds.

Supakorn Amornchaichan and Walker Wise both carded 1-under 71s. Wise added 13 pars and is tied for fourth with 26 strokes after two rounds. Amornchaichan is tied for fifth on the par-3 scoring list after 36 holes.

Southern Miss improved from an even 288 in the first round to a 4-under 284 in the second, boosting the team to fourth place. Coastal Carolina leads at 9-under, followed by James Madison at 8-under and Arkansas State at 5-under.

Benjamin Fernandez rounded out the team scoring with a 1-over 73, tying him for seventh overall. He is also tied for fifth on the par-4 list with a 2-under par and an average score of 3.90.

Matthew Javier struggled with an 8-over 80, recording two birdies in the round. The final round begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday, with the top four teams advancing to match play after stroke play concludes.
