INDIANAPOLIS — Ole Miss track and field officials announced that 31 student-athletes will compete in 35 entries at the upcoming NCAA East Region First Round, scheduled for May 27-30 at the University of Kentucky’s UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
The Rebel men lead with 20 entries from 18 athletes, while the women have 15 entries from 13 athletes. Among those competing are eight athletes participating in their first regional meet, including six women and two men, with four freshmen making their debut.
Several athletes will attempt multiple events. Sophomore Max Armstrong and junior Carson Turner are entered in the men’s 800 meters and the 4×400-meter relay. Senior Alicia Burnett will compete in the 100 meters and the 4×100 relay. Seniors Aiden Britt and Kidus Misgina are entered in the 5K and 10K, while junior Dekell Minor is in the 100 meters and 4×100 relay. Sophomore Wesley Todd will run in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays. Ole Miss also has two athletes scheduled to compete in three events: sophomore Jordan Urrutia and freshman Patchnalie Compere, both attempting the 100 meters, 200 meters, and the 4×100 relay. To qualify for the NCAA Championships, athletes must be among the top 48 in individual events or top 24 in relays on the regional qualifying list, released by the NCAA on Thursday. The top 12 finishers in the decathlon and heptathlon automatically qualify for nationals.
The NCAA East Regional serves as the first step toward the national championships, with the top 12 finishers in each event advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, June 10-13. The competition is streamed live each evening on ESPN+.
Ole Miss head coach Connie Price-Smith has overseen an average of 31 athletes and nearly 35 entries per regional meet during her 11 years at the helm. Her athletes have won eight NCAA outdoor titles and earned 96 All-America honors. The program’s best team finishes include a fifth-place women’s finish in 2024 and an eighth-place men’s finish in 2025.
