Ole Miss Track & Field Heads to NCAA East Regional with 31 Athletes

Ole Miss track and field is set to compete at the NCAA East Region First Round Championships from May 27-30 in Lexington, Kentucky. The Rebels will send 31 athletes across 34 entries to the regional meet, which serves as a qualifying stage for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

To advance, student-athletes must finish in the top 48 of their individual events or be part of a top-24 relay team on their regional qualifying list. The top 12 in each event at the regionals will earn spots at the national meet, scheduled for June 10-13 at the University of Oregon.

The meet’s evening sessions will be streamed live on ESPN+. Live results are also available. Ole Miss head coach Connie Price-Smith noted that her program has a strong history of NCAA qualifiers, with an average of 11.2 athletes advancing to nationals over her tenure. The Rebels aim to build on recent successes, including several NCAA titles and top-25 team finishes.

Among the key athletes competing are 19 men’s entries and 15 women’s entries. Notably, eight Rebels are competing in their first regional meet, including freshmen and redshirt sophomores. Several athletes will attempt multiple events, with some aiming for a triple, such as sophomore Jordan Urrutia and freshman Patchnalie Compere.

The team will be without several key athletes due to injuries, including NCAA Champion Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan, who suffered a leg injury in practice. Other injured athletes include thrower Akaoma Odeluga and distance runner Evan Thornton-Sherman. Despite setbacks, the Rebels are optimistic about their chances for qualification and national advancement.
