OXFORD, Ala. — The Mississippi University for Women cross country teams competed in the 20th annual Jacksonville State University Foothills Invitational Friday morning at Choccolocco Park.
The Owls’ women finished 20th, while the men placed 17th in 5-kilometer races that included several upper-division programs.
On the men’s side, sophomore Jarvis Sellars led MUW with a time of 18:43.10, which was the fourth-fastest 5K in school history. Sellars finished 113th overall. Noel Kellum was the next Owl across the line, clocking in at 20:44.0 for 140th place.
Other MUW runners included newcomers Welton Davidson (23:23.9, 153rd), Trevor Davis (24:58.2, 158th), and I’ Monn Hill (25:04.6, 159th).
On the women’s side, senior Hannah Owens was the top finisher for MUW for the 20th consecutive time in her career, crossing the finish line in 22:22.30 minutes and placing 101st. Freshman Rachel Lochridge finished in 26:46.0 (147th), followed by Cassidy Talley (31:08.4, 158th), Brianna Brown (31:44.5, 160th), and Ketu’rah Johnson (32:30.6, 162nd).
The teams return to competition later this season as they continue preparations for upcoming meets.
