Mississippi State Men’s Golf Ties for Seventh on Day One of Visit Knoxville Collegiate

Knoxville, Tenn. — Mississippi State Men’s Golf finished the first day of the Visit Knoxville Collegiate in a tie for seventh place, according to tournament results released Monday. The Bulldogs are one stroke behind several teams in the pack, with Chattanooga leading at 8-under par.

Freshman Yago Horno Mateo emerged as a top performer for Mississippi State. He is tied for second place overall after shooting a 5-under 67 in the first round, recording four birdies. He improved to a 68 in the second round, ending the day at 7-under par.

Transfer sophomore Arth Sinha also posted strong scores. He is tied for 10th after rounds of 68 and 69, totaling 3-under par. Sinha started the second round with an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole.

The Bulldogs will begin the third round Tuesday at 8:20 a.m. CT, starting from Hole No. 1. Live results are available on the tournament’s SCOREBOARD website.

Chattanooga leads the event at 8-under, with Georgia and Memphis tied for second at 7-under. Mississippi State is one stroke behind the leaders at 1-under par, tied with Liberty, Toledo, Tennessee, and Missouri.

Mississippi State’s other notable players include Bryson Hughes, Jackson Cook, Gavin Isbell, and Drew Wilson, who are competing in the tournament. The Bulldogs’ next event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1.
