Mississippi State Opens 2026-27 Men’s Golf Season in Knoxville
The Mississippi State men’s golf team begins its 2026-27 season Monday at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate at Fox Den Golf Club in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Bulldogs are entering their 10th season under head coach Dusty Smith, coming off a record-setting campaign that included their eighth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, five top-five finishes, and two tournament wins, according to team sources.
Coach Smith expressed enthusiasm for the new season. “We are excited to get the season underway this week,” he said. “The guys have been preparing well, and I look forward to seeing how this group competes as we begin the climb. Staying focused on our process is key.”
The tournament features 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday at the par-72 course, which measures 7,110 yards. The Bulldogs’ lineup includes five players, led by junior Gavin Isbell from Trussville, Alabama, who finished in the top 20 at the Dogwood Invitational and was named to the All-SoCon team last season. Other starters are sophomore Bryson Hughes, freshman Yago Horno Mateo, transfer Arth Sinha, and sophomore Jackson Cook.
The Bulldogs’ individual team members are Drew Wilson, who qualified for the U.S. Amateur and finished 16th at the Mississippi State Amateur. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. CT with Cook, followed by Sinha and Horno Mateo at 7:42, Wilson and Hughes at 7:54, and Isbell at 8:06.
