Ole Miss Softball Freshman Madi George Named NFCA Second Team All-American

Ole Miss softball’s Madi George has earned national recognition, being named a second team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Wednesday, according to an Ole Miss athletics release.

George is the third Rebel to receive NFCA All-American honors, joining Kylan Becker (2019, first team) and Lauren Grill (2010, third team; 2008, first team). She is also the first freshman from Ole Miss to earn All-American honors.

The Texas native had a remarkable debut season, batting .379 with 23 home runs and 63 RBIs. She also drew 27 walks and recorded 10 doubles. George set school records for home runs, RBIs, total bases (150), and slugging percentage (.824). Her performance ranked among the top hitters in the Southeastern Conference and nationally.

George’s postseason performance was equally impressive. In her NCAA Tournament debut, she posted a .308 batting average, with two home runs and five RBIs over four games, tying for the team lead in RBIs.

She was recently named a freshman All-American by Softball America and received first-team All-Region and second-team All-SEC honors. George was also a top-10 finalist for the NFCA Freshman of the Year award.

Ole Miss coach Jamie Trachsel praised George’s impact on the team. Fans can follow the Rebels’ news and updates on the team’s social media channels or at OleMissSports.com. The university encourages fans to join Rebel Rewards, the official loyalty program, to earn points for attending events and redeeming prizes.

George’s achievements highlight her as one of the top newcomers in college softball this season, marking a historic milestone for Ole Miss softball.
