Mississippi State Track and Field Qualifies Three for NCAA Championships on Day One
Lexington, Kentucky — Mississippi State track and field opened the NCAA East First Round with three athletes advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June, according to meet results released Wednesday.
Throwers Tuomas Narhi, Kaden Cartwright, and Juha Narhi each qualified in their events. Tuomas Narhi finished sixth in the javelin with a throw of 66.06 meters, while Cartwright placed ninth in the same event, earning spots in the national meet. Juha Narhi also qualified in the hammer throw after a third-round toss of 66.06 meters.
On the track, four Bulldogs advanced to the quarterfinals scheduled for Friday. Nicholas Fakorede secured an automatic qualifier in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.08 seconds. In the 800 meters, Keayari Lee, Harry Ross-Hughes, and Sam Navarro all advanced to the final race of the meet, earning what is known as a “big Q.”
The women’s competition begins Thursday, starting with Marie Rougetet in the hammer throw. The meet is available to stream on ESPN+ with live results posted online, according to meet organizers.
