Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Falls to Clemson in NCAA Tournament First Round
The Ole Miss men’s tennis team saw its season end Friday at the NCAA Tournament after a 4-3 loss to Clemson in Tucson, Arizona. The Rebels, ranked No. 28, finished with a 19-10 record, while Clemson, ranked No. 34, improved to 17-12.
Clemson secured the doubles point early, sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Ole Miss responded in singles, with Vlado Jankanj defeating Henrik Bladelius 6-1, 6-3, to tie the match. The Tigers regained the lead when Matisse Farzam beat Pietro Pampanin 6-1, 6-3.
Ole Miss fought back, with Isac Stromberg defeating Noah Cherubino 6-4, 7-5, to bring the score to 3-2 in favor of Clemson. However, Clemson’s Marko Mesarovic outlasted Noah Schlagenhauf in a three-set match, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, clinching the victory for the Tigers. The match was decided on court five, with Mesarovic winning the final set after Schlagenhauf’s second-set comeback.
