Ole Miss Baseball Advances to NCAA Super Regional After Extra-Inning Win Over Arizona State
LINCOLN, Neb. — Ole Miss baseball secured a spot in the NCAA Super Regional with a 5-4 victory over Arizona State on Sunday evening. The game went into extra innings, marking the first time since 2022 that the Rebels have advanced to the super round.
The Rebels, with a 39-21 record, had previously gone 3-0 in the Lincoln Regional, which included two wins over the Sun Devils. Ole Miss’s last appearance in the Super Regional was in 2022, when it defeated Southern Miss twice.
Ole Miss trailed early after Arizona State homered in the first inning and scored two runs in the second. The Rebels responded with a home run from Tristan Bissetta in the third and a tying double from Austin Fawley in the seventh. The game remained tied until Dom Decker’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th sealed the win for Ole Miss.
The game featured strong performances from Brayden Randle, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Bissetta, who hit his 22nd home run of the season. Cade Townsend started for Ole Miss, pitching five innings and striking out seven. Relief pitchers Wil Libbert and JP Robertson held the Sun Devils scoreless in relief, with Robertson earning the win.
Ole Miss now awaits the outcome of the Auburn regional, which will determine if the Rebels will host a Super Regional for the first time since 2009. The next round is scheduled to begin June 5.
