Mississippi State University has a rich history of producing professional baseball talent. In 2026, 42 former Bulldogs are active across Major League Baseball and its affiliates, according to the school’s athletic department.
Among those in the majors are All-Stars Adam Frazier, Brent Rooker, Jordan Westburg, and Brandon Woodruff, as well as World Series champion Nathaniel Lowe. MSU has produced 72 major leaguers, 13 All-Stars, seven World Series champions, and 20 first-round draft picks, including Rooker, Westburg, Justin Foscue, Will Bednar, Landon Sims, and Jurrangelo Cijntje.
In Major League Baseball, Justin Foscue of the Texas Rangers is batting .279 with seven home runs and 19 RBIs. J.T. Ginn of the Oakland Athletics earned a win after pitching 6 1/3 shutout innings on July 18. Nathaniel Lowe of the Cincinnati Reds has homered twice in his last three games and driven in five runs during that span.
Other Bulldogs are making impacts in the minors. Jake Mangum of the Pittsburgh Pirates is hitting .327 in July, while Colton Ledbetter of the Memphis Redbirds is batting .325 in the same period. However, some players are dealing with injuries; Brent Rooker will miss the rest of the season after knee surgery, and Jordan Westburg underwent Tommy John surgery in mid-May, sidelining him for 2026.
Several prospects are also progressing in the minors. Landon Sims of the Reno Aces recorded two scoreless innings to earn a win on July 11. Konnor Pilkington of the Rochester Red Wings has a 5.06 ERA over 26 games, and K.C. Hunt of the Montgomery Biscuits has a 6.16 ERA in 17 appearances.
