Mississippi State Baseball Alumni Continue Major and Minor League Success in 2026

Mississippi State University has a rich history of producing professional baseball players. In 2026, 41 alumni are competing across Major League Baseball and the minor leagues, according to the school’s athletic department.

Among those in the majors are All-Stars Adam Frazier, Brent Rooker, Jordan Westburg, and Brandon Woodruff, as well as World Series champion Nathaniel Lowe. MSU has produced 72 major leaguers and 20 first-round draft picks, including Rooker, Westburg, Justin Foscue, Will Bednar, Landon Sims, and Jurrangelo Cijntje.

Foscue, with the Texas Rangers, is batting .351 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 37 at-bats. Frazier of the Los Angeles Angels broke up a no-hitter with a single against Oakland on May 18. Lowe, with the Cincinnati Reds, went 2-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs in a game against Philadelphia on May 20.

Other notable alumni include J.T. Ginn of the Oakland Athletics, who earned a win on May 13, and Brent Rooker, who homered twice in recent games. Westburg, now with the Baltimore Orioles, is currently recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the season.

Minor league players continue to make their mark, with several alumni performing well in Triple-A and Double-A levels. For example, Jurrangelo Cijntje of the Springfield Cardinals struck out 10 batters in 4 1/3 innings on May 16, and Landon Sims has earned multiple saves in the minor leagues since May 12.
