Southern Miss Announces Inaugural Women’s Soccer Schedule for 2026
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The University of Southern Mississippi announced its 2026 women’s soccer schedule on Monday, marking the program’s first season under new head coach Danny Owens. The schedule includes 17 regular-season games, with eight home matches at the Marshall Bell Track & Field/Soccer Complex.
Owens, in his first season leading the Golden Eagles, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming campaign. “I am looking forward to this first season with the team,” he said. “Our nonconference schedule is competitive and will prepare us for the Sun Belt Conference schedule.”
The Golden Eagles will play two preseason matches: on Aug. 6 at Middle Tennessee and Aug. 9 against Pearl River Community College, both at the Marshall Bell Complex. Their regular-season opener is set for Aug. 13 at Alabama State, followed by consecutive road games against McNeese State and Mississippi State.
Southern Miss’s home debut is scheduled for Aug. 27 against Southeastern Louisiana. The team will also host Jacksonville State on Sept. 3 and Southern on Sept. 6 during a three-game homestand. The nonconference schedule concludes with a game at Nicholls State on Sept. 10.
Conference play begins Sept. 18 at home against James Madison. The Sun Belt schedule features 10 matches over four weeks, with five home games and five away contests. The first road game in conference play is Sept. 24 at Arkansas State, followed by home matchups against Louisiana Tech, Louisiana, and Troy.
The regular season wraps up Nov. 1 at ULM, with the Sun Belt Conference tournament scheduled for Nov. 9-14 in Foley, Alabama. The tournament’s champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA women’s soccer tournament, which begins with first-round games Nov. 20-22. The postseason culminates with the Women’s College Cup in Cary, North Carolina, from Dec. 11-14.
