Jones dominates St. Louis 5-0 in inaugural matchup
ELLISVILLE — Karla Ovalle scored 31 seconds into the match, setting the tone for a dominant victory as No. 3 Jones defeated St. Louis 5-0 Sunday afternoon.
Jones (2-0) netted four goals in the second half, including a quick goal by Dillyn Biancamano 23 seconds after halftime. Sofia Monico, Maryanne Ward, and Brianna Kimbrell also scored for the Bobcats. Ovalle and Kimbrell contributed assists in the victory.
The Bobcats out-shot the Archers 36-0 and kept St. Louis largely on their side of the field throughout the match. Jennifer Huerzeler earned the win in goal, improving to 2-0 this season, playing 61 minutes and 54 seconds. Darby Ford made her first collegiate appearance to close the game.
St. Louis’s Morgan Farano made 15 saves but allowed five goals. Jones is set to play its next three games on the road, starting Saturday against No. 13 Southern Union State.
