Belhaven’s Neal Terry Nominated for CCS Man of the Year

ATLANTA — Neal Terry, a senior on Belhaven University’s men’s basketball and track and field teams, has been selected as the school’s nominee for the 2025-26 Collegiate Conference of the South Man of the Year award, the conference announced.

The award, now in its fourth year, honors the top male student-athlete in the CCS for achievements in athletics, academics, service, and leadership. Terry made significant contributions during his final year at Belhaven, earning All-CCS Second Team honors in basketball and helping the Blazers secure their first conference tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.

He finished his basketball career as Belhaven’s all-time leader in blocked shots with 220, including a single-game record of six blocks against Huntingdon on Feb. 27. In track and field, Terry was named the CCS Championships Field Athlete of the Meet after winning the triple jump and long jump. He set a CCS record in the triple jump with a distance of 15.11 meters and won the long jump with a leap of 7.19 meters. Terry also contributed to Belhaven’s third-place 4×400 relay team, which finished in 3 minutes, 28.55 seconds.

Beyond his athletic accomplishments, Terry emphasized the impact Belhaven had on his personal growth. He said the university provided a community where he felt supported and seen, contrasting with his experiences in high school. Terry also became involved in campus activities, including FCA, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and encouraging fellow students to attend athletic events.

He credited Belhaven with strengthening his faith, saying it helped him find Christ through FCA and learn to support others. Terry leaves the university as a conference champion, record holder, and one of the most accomplished two-sport athletes in recent school history. He expressed gratitude for the community’s role in his development and hopes to inspire others to use their gifts for good.

“Belhaven has given me a chance to shine my light for others to see so that I may be able to bring glory to God,” Terry said. “And I will forever be grateful for the opportunities Belhaven has given me and the impact this community has had on my life.”
