Belhaven Women’s Soccer Opens 2026 Season with 3-0 Win at Centenary

The Belhaven women’s soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 3-0 victory over Centenary on Tuesday evening at Atkins Field in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The Blazers dominated the first half, taking 10 shots while holding Centenary to seven. Jensen Ward scored in the 21st minute off an assist from Faith Dreyer to give Belhaven a 1-0 lead. Goalkeeper Addi Roberts made three saves in the first half to preserve the shutout.

Belhaven continued to pressure early in the second half. Centenary goalkeeper Morgan Stancliff made several saves to keep the game within reach. The Blazers doubled their lead in the 67th minute when McKenzee Gregory scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Alexis Whiting. In the 78th minute, Kinsey Carter added another goal, with Whiting providing her second assist of the match.

Belhaven’s defense held strong in the final minutes, limiting Centenary to five shots on goal. Roberts finished with five saves for the clean sheet. The team outshot Centenary 14-13 overall and had a 10-5 advantage in shots on target. The Blazers also led 3-3 in corner kicks.

Ward, Gregory, and Carter each scored once, while Whiting contributed two assists and Dreyer added one. The win moves Belhaven to 1-0 on the season. The team will next face Hendrix in Arkansas on Saturday in non-conference play.
