ELLISVILLE — The Jones College volleyball team completed its perfect three-match homestand Monday with a straight-set win over Reid State Community College. The Bobcats took the sets 25-13, 25-16, and 25-17, finishing with a 3-0 record at home.
Jones finished the match with 40 kills, hitting .289 as a team. They also recorded 38 assists, nine service aces, 30 digs, and seven blocks. Head coach John Dussouy praised the team’s effort and mental toughness, noting that the team responded well after an emotional victory the night before.
In the first set, Jones established control early with consecutive kills from Selah Sandridge. The Bobcats built a 5-1 lead and extended it to 22-12, closing out the set 25-13. The second set was more competitive, with Jones pulling away after a stretch of strong hitting from Jensi Doise and Myah Favre to win 25-16. They recorded their best hitting percentage of the night at .444 in this set.
The third set saw Reid State rally early, but Jones regained momentum with key kills from Doise and Barnes. The Bobcats scored the final eight points, winning 25-17 and completing the sweep. Doise led the team with eight kills and a .500 hitting percentage, providing a spark off the bench.
Favre and Barnes shared team-high honors with nine kills each. Favre hit .286, adding two aces and a block assist. Barnes hit .389 with two blocks. Sides contributed four service aces, and Vance added three kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Defensively, Lazard led with seven digs, and Guth and McHugh each finished with six.
Jones is set to face Southwest on Wednesday in their first meeting of the season, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m., according to the team.
