Mississippi State Volleyball Sweeps Louisiana to Open Ragin’ Cajuns Classic
Lafayette, La. — Mississippi State’s volleyball team opened the Ragin’ Cajuns Classic with a 3-0 sweep of host Louisiana on Thursday night. The Bulldogs improved to 3-0 on the season with the win.
Midway through the second set, Lindsey Mangelson recorded her 500th career kill, becoming the fastest Bulldogs player to reach the milestone. The previous record was held by Evie Grace Singleton, who achieved it in 39 matches in 2016. Mangelson finished the match with eight kills and scored 10 points for Mississippi State.
Bernardita Aguilar led the Bulldogs with 14 kills and a .438 hitting percentage. Paloma Routaboul added eight kills, while Ava Anderson contributed a season-high seven. The team was dominant at the net, totaling 8.5 blocks.
Defensively, McKenna Yates led with 15 digs, followed by Mangelson with 12 and Cayley Hanson with 11. Hanson and Mangelson also contributed with three and two aces, respectively.
Mississippi State is scheduled to face Jackson State on Friday at 2:30 p.m. CT. The Bulldogs will conclude the tournament Saturday at 11 a.m. CT against UT Arlington. Fans can follow updates at HailState.com and on social media under the handle ‘HailStateVB.’
