Mobile, Ala. — The William Carey University women’s soccer team secured its third conference victory of the season Thursday with a 2-0 road win against the University of Mobile.
The Lady Crusaders controlled the match from the start, setting the tempo and applying pressure throughout the first half. William Carey outshot Mobile 13-1 before halftime and created numerous scoring chances.
The team broke through in the 26th minute when Mia Encinia scored to give Carey a 1-0 lead. The Crusaders continued to attack, carrying a one-goal advantage into the break.
In the second half, William Carey maintained its dominance, limiting Mobile’s opportunities. Mobile managed only two shots on goal, both saved by goalkeeper Alicia Garwood to preserve the shutout.
With just 10 minutes remaining, Linda Musterd added an insurance goal in the 80th minute, sealing the 2-0 victory for the Crusaders. William Carey returns to action Saturday when it visits Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama, for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
