Ole Miss Volleyball Faces No. 22 Kansas and Grand Canyon in Jayhawk Classic
The Ole Miss volleyball team is set to finish its non-conference schedule this weekend at the Jayhawk Classic in Lawrence, Kansas. The Rebels (6-3) will take on host No. 22 Kansas (5-3) on Friday at 6 p.m. CT and then face Grand Canyon (5-4) on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. Both matches will be streamed via ESPN Plus, according to university sources.
Ole Miss is seeking its first ranked win since defeating No. 22 Florida State in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The team has shown resilience, especially in the later sets of matches, with a combined 14-6 record in sets three through five, despite an overall 8-10 record in the first and second sets this season.
Libero Cameron Bradley continues to lead the SEC with 198 digs, maintaining at least 15 digs in each of her nine matches. Freshman Jaidyn Hartsfield has provided a boost off the bench, hitting .419 over the last four matches. Jorda Crook, an opposite hitter, is 31 kills shy of 1,000 for her career and has contributed 134 kills this season, along with 39 blocks and 13 aces.
The Rebels will renew an all-time series against Kansas that hasn’t been played since 1980, with Kansas leading 2-0. Ole Miss and Grand Canyon will face off for the first time in program history on Saturday. The Wildcats are led by transfers Starr Williams and Katie Schulz and boast a balanced offensive attack with several players averaging over two kills per set.
Ole Miss recently lost a 3-1 road match to Memphis. Jorda Crook posted 18 kills, nine digs, and five blocks, but the team struggled in the second and third sets. Despite a rally in the fourth set, the Rebels could not force a fifth set.
Defensively, Cameron Bradley continues a strong start, earning SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors with her 78 digs over three matches. The team also benefits from contributions by other players, including Meyer, who is climbing the program record books for service aces, and Crook, who has made an immediate impact since transferring from UAB.
