Lawrence, Kansas — The Ole Miss volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Grand Canyon on Saturday afternoon at the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena. The Rebels, now 6-5, took the first set but could not maintain their lead, ultimately losing the match.
Ole Miss opened the match with an 11-4 advantage in the first set, led by strong play from Jorda Crook and Shayla Meyer. The Rebels finished the set with a .375 hitting percentage and won 25-16. However, Grand Canyon responded in the second set, winning 25-20 after the Rebels led early but could not hold the Lopes’ rally.
The Lopes took control in the third set with a 7-0 run and secured a 25-14 victory, while the Rebels battled but fell short. In the final set, Grand Canyon led 12-7 but Ole Miss rallied to tie the score at 18-18. Despite a late push, the Rebels lost the set 25-22, giving the Lopes the match win.
Shayla Meyer led Ole Miss with 14 kills and 12 digs for a double-double. Jorda Crook added 11 kills and six digs, while Melia Johnson contributed a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Ryea Jackson also impressed with a career-high 10 kills on .750 hitting. The Rebels will begin Southeastern Conference play next Saturday at Alabama.
