William Carey Women’s Soccer Dominates Thomas University 7-0

The William Carey women’s soccer team defeated Thomas University 7-0 Saturday afternoon at Danny Owens Field.

The Lady Crusaders scored early and often, with Raquel Diaz setting up Linda Mustered for a goal just two minutes into the match. A minute later, Mustered assisted Mia Encinia, who doubled the lead with a shot into the bottom corner.

Carey continued to control possession and added a third goal before halftime. In the 31st minute, Luana Falconeri delivered a cross that found Paola Alvarez, who finished to put Carey ahead 3-0 at the break.

In the second half, Alvarez scored her second goal early after a pass from Falconeri, extending the lead to 4-0. The Lady Crusaders finished strong, scoring three goals in the final minutes. Mustered scored again after a deflected shot in the 85th minute, followed by Sophie Magee’s goal in the 86th minute. Alba Aguado capped the scoring with a header from a corner kick in the 88th minute.

William Carey is scheduled to play next Thursday in Mobile, Alabama, against the University of Mobile at 5 p.m., according to school officials.
