DALTON, Ga. — William Carey’s women’s soccer team defeated Dalton State College 6-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Crusaders outshot the Wildcats 34-6 and placed 20 shots on goal, according to team statistics.
William Carey dominated early, taking 21 shots in the first half with 11 on target. The Crusaders scored three goals in the opening 39 minutes. Luana Falconeri opened the scoring in the 11th minute, firing a shot into the top corner from outside the box. Linda Mustered doubled the lead in the 14th minute.
Raquel Batalla Royo added the third goal in the 39th minute with a precise shot from the edge of the box. The Crusaders carried their momentum into the second half, creating nine more shots on goal and scoring three more times. Mustered scored her second goal in the 55th minute, and Susan De Souza Santos headed in a cross three minutes later for the fifth goal.
The final score came in the 63rd minute when Paloma Paris and Mustered set up Kayla Martin, who finished beneath the crossbar. William Carey will host Wesleyan College on Thursday at Danny Owens Field, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
