DALTON, Ga. — William Carey University’s men’s soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over RV Dalton State College on Sunday, ending a two-game losing streak. The Crusaders controlled much of the first half but couldn’t find the net. They took two shots on target, while the Road Runners did not have any shots on goal, resulting in a scoreless tie at halftime.
William Carey continued to dominate possession in the second half. The match was decided in the 71st minute when Souleymane Balde scored the game’s only goal. He was assisted by Enzo Galli and Horace Danitanga on the play.
The Crusaders’ defense was key to the win. A collective effort from the back line, along with goalkeeper Yago Darub’s performance, secured the clean sheet. Carey maintained its 1-0 lead through the final whistle.
The team will return to action Thursday, Oct. 1, when it travels to Conway, Arkansas, to face Central Baptist. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
