Danitanga scores first-half hat trick in William Carey’s 4-0 win over Louisiana Christian
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — William Carey’s men’s soccer team dominated Louisiana Christian in a 4-0 victory Saturday in non-conference play.
Danitanga opened the scoring just four minutes into the match after intercepting a pass and calmly finishing into the bottom right corner. The Crusaders continued their assault in the 21st minute, with Joshua Salas setting up Soulemane Balde, who found Danitanga for a back-flick goal that doubled the lead.
Less than two minutes later, Balde delivered a cross that Danitanga headed home for his third goal of the first half, completing a hat trick and giving Carey a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Carey controlled the second half, limiting Louisiana Christian to only a few shots on goal while creating multiple scoring chances. The Crusaders added their final goal in the 82nd minute when Luka Brandic headed in a corner kick from Fabian Arroyo.
William Carey is scheduled to host Florida National on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Danny Owens Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., according to school officials.
