Mississippi State volleyball sweeps Jackson State at Ragin’ Cajuns Classic

LOUISIANA — The Mississippi State volleyball team secured a 3-0 victory over Jackson State on Friday during the Ragin’ Cajuns Classic in Lafayette, Louisiana. The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in the tournament with the win.

Mississippi State took control early, recording 14 kills in the first set and an 8-0 scoring run to secure the set. The team maintained its momentum, posting a .474 hitting percentage in the second set with 19 kills. In the third set, the Bulldogs limited Jackson State to an .081 hitting percentage and closed out the match.

The Bulldogs finished with a team-high 46 kills and six service aces, hitting .325 overall for the match. Key contributors included Bernardita Aguilar, who hit .400 with 12 kills, and Lindsey Mangelson, who added 15 kills and a team-high 17 digs. Noella Obi also chipped in six kills, while Paloma Routaboul contributed seven. Cayley Hanson recorded 39 assists, helping facilitate the offense.

Jackson State struggled offensively, recording 33 kills and hitting .185. The Tigers also committed 13 errors and were limited to zero aces in the match. Mangelson and Aguilar led their respective teams in kills and digs, with Mangelson also leading in digs. Mississippi State will play its final match of the tournament against UT Arlington at 11 a.m. Saturday.
