Pulaski, Tenn. — UT-Southern defeated Blue Mountain Christian 2-1 in a Saturday SSAC men’s soccer game. The Firehawks took an early lead with a goal from Benjamin Chretien, assisted by Felix Hammel, at the 26:53 mark of the first half.
They added a second goal before halftime when Nick Miske scored on an assist from Tyrell Inniss at 41:47. Blue Mountain Christian responded in the 81st minute with a goal from Erick Braga, assisted by Davi Rainato.
Yalin Alici had a late scoring opportunity for Blue Mountain Christian, but UT-Southern goalkeeper William McGinn made the save to preserve the win. Blue Mountain Christian finished with nine shots on goal, while Topper goalkeeper Luan Nascimento recorded five saves despite the loss.
Blue Mountain Christian, now 4-2-3 overall, returns to SSAC play Thursday, Oct. 1, against Brewton-Parker in Mount Vernon, Georgia, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
