Blue Mountain Christian Men’s Soccer opens 2026 season with 2-0 win over LSU Alexandria
Blue Mountain Christian’s men’s soccer team kicked off the 2026 season with a 2-0 victory over LSU Alexandria at Topper Pitch on Saturday. The Toppers used two goals from Dipanda Silva Jr. and a strong defensive effort to secure their first win of the season.
LSU Alexandria pressed early, taking three shots in the first eight minutes. Despite the pressure, Blue Mountain’s defense held firm. The Toppers’ first scoring chance came in the 26th minute when Erick Braga’s shot went high. Goalkeeper Luan Nascimento responded with a save in the 28th minute on a shot from Thiago Lopes.
The hosts took a 1-0 lead just before halftime, when Pedro Pina connected with Silva, who scored with 25 seconds remaining in the first half. The Generals intensified their attack early in the second half, earning three corner kicks between the 56th and 57th minutes, but Blue Mountain’s defense continued to hold.
Silva had a chance to double the lead in the 62nd minute from a penalty kick, but his shot went wide. LSU Alexandria persisted in search of a goal, but Nascimento made another key save in the 76th minute to maintain the lead. The Toppers added an insurance goal in the 87th minute when Silva scored his second of the match, assisted by Cavalcante.
Nascimento finished with three saves, earning the clean sheet. Pina and Cavalcante each recorded assists. The victory marked Blue Mountain Christian’s first of the season, improving their record to 1-0.
