Blue Mountain Christian Earns Road Draw at Louisiana Christian with Late Goal

PINVILLE, La. — Davi Vieira scored a header in the 86th minute to lift Blue Mountain Christian University to a 1-1 draw against Louisiana Christian on Saturday at Wildcat Field.

Louisiana Christian opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Matej Motycka converted a loose ball inside the box following a corner kick to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

The Toppers generated seven shots in the first half, placing four on goal, but trailed at halftime. They increased their pressure after the break and kept Louisiana Christian off the scoreboard in the second half.

In the 86th minute, Rainato sent a free kick into the box, where Vieira headed the ball into the net to tie the game. It was Vieira’s first goal of the season, and Rainato earned the assist.

Neither team scored in the final minutes, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Blue Mountain Christian finished with a 13-11 advantage in total shots. Santiago Estebanez and Victor Silva led the Toppers with three attempts each, while Rainato and Sammuel Davi Cavalcante added two apiece.

Goalkeeper Luan Nascimento played all 90 minutes, making six saves and allowing only one goal. The Toppers also held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks, while Louisiana Christian had a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.

With the result, Blue Mountain Christian moved to 3-1-3 on the season. The Toppers are scheduled to face Central Baptist College on Tuesday at The Summit.
