West Point, Ga. — Blue Mountain Christian’s men’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak in Southern States Athletic Conference play with a 1-1 draw against Point University on Saturday.
The Toppers moved to 3-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play. They scored first in the 25th minute, when Guilherme Aguiar netted a goal set up by Sammuel Davi Cavalcante.
Point responded less than two minutes later. Joao Fernandes scored off an assist from Kevin Richards at 26:31, leveling the match at one. The score remained tied at halftime, leading to a defensive second half.
Point put two shots on goal in the second half, but Blue Mountain goalkeeper Luan Nascimento made both saves to keep the Skyhawks off the board. The Toppers generated three shots and earned three corner kicks after halftime but could not find a winning goal.
Nascimento played all 90 minutes, finishing with two saves. Blue Mountain finished with six shots, while Point recorded eight. The Skyhawks held a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal and a narrow 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
The result leaves Blue Mountain with four points through two SSAC matches this season.
