Blue Mountain Christian’s men’s soccer team returned to the win column Tuesday afternoon, defeating Central Baptist College 2-1 in non-conference action at The Summit.
The Toppers dominated offensively, outshooting the Mustangs 23-3 and putting 10 shots on goal. They broke through in the 25th minute when Dipanda Silva Jr. scored off assists from Davi Vieira and Guilherme Aguiar, giving Blue Mountain Christian a 1-0 lead at halftime.
After the break, the Toppers kept pressure on. Santiago Estebanez scored the team’s second goal in the 67th minute, sealing the victory with a 2-0 cushion. Central Baptist responded late, with Mackenzie Vincent scoring in the 87th minute off an assist from Jack McNamara. Blue Mountain Christian held on to win 2-1.
The Toppers finished with a 23-3 advantage in shots and a 10-1 edge in shots on goal. They also generated seven corner kicks to Central Baptist’s two. With the win, Blue Mountain Christian improved to 4-1-3 this season.
