SUWANEE, Ga. — A trio of Jackson State golfers finished in the top 20 at the rain-shortened Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Collegiate tournament at Bears Best Golf Course, which was called after 18 holes due to weather.
JD Berndt and Emmanuel Jensen both shot 3-over-par 75 in the first round, tying for 15th overall. They finished six shots behind the leaders. Trace Carpenter shot 4-over 76, placing him in the top 20 as well. The Tigers completed the tournament with a team score of 18 over par (306).
Jackson State will return to competition at the SAS HBCU Invitational in Cary, North Carolina, on Oct. 16.
