Women’s Soccer Falls 1-0 to Ozarks on Late Goal

The Millsaps College women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the University of the Ozarks on Sunday at Harper Davis Field in Jackson, Mississippi. A late goal in the second half proved decisive for the visitors.

Freshman Haile Moorer led the Majors with two shots, including one on goal. Senior Alex Bremond added three shots, and freshman Eden Birch contributed one. Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Umanzor made nine saves in her second collegiate start, helping keep the game scoreless until the final moments.

Umanzor was active early, making five saves in the first half as Millsaps battled the Eagles in intense heat. The Majors created their first shot on goal in the sixth minute. The Eagles responded with several scoring opportunities, but Umanzor’s saves kept the game tied at 0-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Millsaps pushed forward, with Moorer and Bremond testing the Eagles’ goalkeeper. Despite their efforts, Ozarks maintained pressure late in the game. Umanzor made key saves in the 77th, 87th, and 89th minutes, but the Eagles broke through at 89:42, scoring the winning goal. The game ended 1-0 in favor of Ozarks.
