LaGrange rallies to defeat Millsaps women’s soccer 4-3

JACKSON, Miss. — LaGrange College’s women’s soccer team scored three second-half goals to rally past Millsaps College, 4-3, Sunday at Harper Davis Field. The Panthers scored the game-winner in the 86th minute after Millsaps had built a 3-1 lead at halftime.

Both teams played a high-paced match, with Millsaps taking seven shots on goal out of eight attempts. LaGrange held a 20-8 shot advantage and put 12 shots on target. Millsaps’s freshman goalkeeper, Kayla Borden, made seven saves, including four in the second half.

LaGrange opened the scoring early, earning a penalty kick in the third minute. Millsaps responded quickly, with senior Alex Bremond equalizing at 4:15. The Majors then took the lead when Eden Birch scored, and Victoria Viquez added a third before halftime, giving Millsaps a 3-1 advantage.

In the second half, LaGrange mounted a comeback, scoring in the 50th minute and then tying the match at 3-3 in the 74th minute. The Panthers secured the game-winner in the 86th minute, capitalizing on continued pressure on the Millsaps defense.
