LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — No. 9 William Carey lost to No. 22 Georgia Gwinnett 1-0 in a nonconference women’s soccer match Sunday afternoon.
The Grizzlies scored the only goal in the 10th minute when Frida Bang assisted Barbora Kadlecova inside the box. Despite the early deficit, William Carey maintained offensive pressure throughout the game.
The Lady Crusaders fired eight shots on target and earned four corner kicks, continually testing Georgia Gwinnett’s defense. They created several dangerous opportunities to tie the game but were unable to convert.
Georgia Gwinnett held firm to preserve the shutout. William Carey is scheduled to return to action Thursday, Sept. 3, when it hosts LSU Alexandria at Danny Owens Field. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., according to school officials.
