Games To Watch: Jackson Prep gets another shot at MRA after August sweep

Jackson Prep gets another chance at Madison-Ridgeland Academy on Tuesday, October 13, after MRA swept their first meeting. The girls varsity volleyball rematch is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central in Madison, with the visiting Patriots entering at 11-12 and MRA at 26-10.

Jackson Prep at MRA: a rematch with a close set to build on

The first meeting ended in straight sets, but Jackson Prep pushed the middle set beyond the usual finish. MRA won 25-18, 27-25 and 25-15 in Jackson on August 4. That second set gives the rematch a useful point of comparison: whether Prep can turn a competitive stretch into a set win, and sustain it over a full match.

MRA returns to action after a five-set loss to Hartfield Academy on October 6. The 3-2 defeat makes Tuesday an opportunity to respond at home. Our October 6 results coverage has more on the Hartfield match.

Jackson Prep has also had mixed results in its most recent reported matches. A 3-0 victory over St. Joseph Catholic on October 6 was followed by a 3-1 loss to Regents on October 8. At 11-12, Prep can return to an even record with a win, while also reversing the result of its earlier meeting with MRA.

Tuesday’s non-conference match is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central. Schedules can change.
