Owls’ Reid and Walker Named to NABC Honors Court for Second Consecutive Year
Kansas City, Mo. — Jackson Reid and Trent Walker of Missouri Western State University’s men’s basketball team were named to the National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) Honors Court for the 2025-26 season, the organization announced.
This marks the second consecutive year both players received the honor. Reid, a senior guard/forward from New Braunfels, Texas, and Walker, a senior guard from Hastings, Florida, graduated this spring. Reid earned his MBA, while Walker completed a degree in business administration.
Former Missouri Western head coach Dean Burrows praised the players, highlighting their academic and athletic contributions. “Once again, we are proud of the honor that both Jackson and Trent have brought to themselves,” Burrows said. “They have also brought honor to their families, our program, and our institution through their dedication in the classroom and on the court.”
Burrows noted the players’ impact beyond academics, including nearly 1,000 hours of community service, participation in back-to-back conference tournaments, and helping the team earn its first-ever NABC Team Academic Excellence Award in 2024-25. He also credited them with contributing to the team’s first SLIAC title and NCAA tournament berth, as well as the program’s national statistical championship in offensive field goal percentage.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes junior, senior, and graduate student men’s basketball players with a minimum 3.2 GPA who completed the season. Over 2,300 players nationwide earned spots on the 2025-26 Honors Court. The awards are presented annually across all levels of college basketball.
Craig Robinson, NABC executive director, emphasized the importance of academic achievement among student-athletes. “College basketball student-athletes do incredible things on the court, but their achievements in the classroom are equally worthy of celebration,” Robinson said. “Education is one of the NABC’s core values, and these awards reflect the commitment to academic success across all levels of our sport.”
