Ole Miss Updates on Former Rebels in Week 1 of NFL Season

Ole Miss released an update on its alumni who played in Week 1 of the NFL season. Nineteen former Rebels appeared across 14 teams during the opening week.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart shined in his debut with the New York Giants, completing 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries, helping the Giants to a 28-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. Dart’s three passing touchdowns tied for second in the league, and he ranked second among quarterbacks with 54 rushing yards, according to sources.

Tight end Evan Engram led the Denver Broncos with four receptions for 43 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Engram’s performance earned him a PFF receiving grade of 78.2, the highest among Broncos pass catchers. Several other Rebels saw action, including Ben Brown of the New England Patriots, Tahj Chambers of the Indianapolis Colts, and D.K. Metcalf of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Chambers played 27 snaps on special teams and recorded one solo tackle. Metcalf caught four passes for 40 yards in the Steelers’ 20-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Other notable performances included Tavius Robinson of the Baltimore Ravens, who totaled three tackles, one sack, and four quarterback hurries in a victory over the Colts. Meanwhile, De’Zhaun Stribling of the San Francisco 49ers played 21 snaps before leaving the game due to injury.

Several players were listed on injured reserve or practice squad, including Trey Amos of the Washington Commanders, A.J. Brown of the Patriots, and Laremy Tunsil of the Commanders. The update highlights the ongoing contributions of Ole Miss alumni in the league as the season progresses.
